Make your Most Limited Resource Unlimited: Time Tracking

Keith R. Sbiral, Principal, Apochromatik

Do you have enough time in your day?  Your week?  Did you accomplish all of your goals last year?  Apochromatik has some exciting news that we will be announcing in the coming months related to this…but in the meantime, we want to briefly talk about how busy we all are.  And because you are busy, I’m going to make this post a really short 3 minute read.

Do you ever get so overwhelmed with your to-do list that by the end of the day you just crash and binge watch some brainless television show?  In fact, most people use their “busy” life and longer than realistic to-do list to ensure that they become less and less productive every day.

One tool to address this is time tracking.  Some managers make their staff do this, some people consider it a hybrid of journaling.  But simply write down what you spend all of your time doing for one week (weekend included) and take a look at what adjustments you can make to make time your unlimited resource.  To be clear, this isn’t time management or goal setting and prioritizing.  This is a simple exercise to carve out “wasted” time that is either mismatched with your priorities, or that you don’t even realize exists.  This wasted time is completely normal and exists for all of us.

Apochromatik provides a tool that we are giving away.  Just sign up for our email list and we will send you the Apochromatik Time Tracker tool and instructions.  Give it a try, you may be surprised what you find.

There is, of course, much more information that can be covered on this topic and time management in general.  If this is something you are interested in working on, please reach out to me, Keith R. Sbiral, Principal at Apochromatik.  At Apochromatik we can help you bring your career into focus and eliminate distractions to figure out where you want your career and life to go, then help you get there.
